Includes assisted living, nursing homes, senior housing, and retirement communities.

Are there immunocompromised occupants or patients?

Transplant units, oncology centers, or any facility with immunosuppressed individuals.

Are there cooling towers on site?

Evaporative cooling towers are a primary source of Legionella aerosolization.

Are there decorative fountains or water features?

Any fountain, waterfall, or misting system that generates aerosols.

Are there spas, hot tubs, or whirlpool baths?

Warm, aerosolized water in spas is a known Legionella risk factor.

Does the building use centralized humidification systems?

HVAC humidifiers that use water reservoirs can aerosolize Legionella.

Does the building contain multiple housing units?

Hotels, dormitories, apartments, and condominiums with shared water systems.
